"If you talk to the average teenager of today, and you ask them what it is about rock & roll music that they like, the first thing they'll say is, "the beat, the beat, the beat!""
An inspired drum & bass interpretation of Iron Butterfly's 17 minute rock odyssey of the same name, High Contrast wrestles with rock legend and sculpts it into his own twisted twenty-first century classic. Thrusting the instantly recognisable riff centre stage and supplying a heavyweight rhythm track to back it up, it's pure dancefloor drama with a subtle hint of psych rock.
On the flip the Contrast brings us a hands-in-the-air epic - 'Forever and a Day'. Reminiscent of one of High Contrast's early anthems, the seminal 'Return of Forever' - this time it's MOBO winner J'nay on the vocal tip with another soaring orchestral arrangement propelling the track forward. The stomping Mr Fingers-esque bassline simultaneously raises the roof, and keeps feet firmly on the floor.
